Title:
PRR 7097, EFS-17M, 1960
Description:
4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in November of 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7097, #7162, and #7096. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7097 and #7096 were built in November of 1956, but #7162 was built in October of 1957. In this context, they're about to pass under the 4th Street Footbridge with a mixed-cargo freight train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)
