PRR 2518, GF-25, 1964
Title:  PRR 2518, GF-25, 1964
Description:  17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2518 and #2524. Both are GF-25's built by General Electric in October of 1962 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They're pulling a 111-car train of empty hoppers past the PRR's 12th Street Car Shops on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania. The cabin car is #477472.
